Amenra behoort tot de absolute top van zwaardere bands in België. De groep zoekt steeds de extremen op. Een constant spel van licht en duisternis vormt de kern van hun muzikale praktijk. Mijn foto's zijn een interpretatie van dat spel. Ik verstil de band in de tijd waardoor de balans tussen licht en donker een verhaal begint te vormen dat de performance overstijgt. Niet alleen wat afgebeeld wordt, is voor mij van belang. Ongeacht of het nu om portretten of live fotografie gaat, ben ik steeds op zoek naar dat ene moment waarop het object zich tussen licht en donker bevindt. Letterlijk en figuurlijk het moment waarop het schaduwspel de vertelling in het beeld en het afgebeelde complementeert.

In the Belgian heavy music scene, Amenra is royalty. Unrelentingly, the band searches for extremes. At the heart of their musical practice is a continuous interplay of light and darkness. My photographs are an interpretation of that dynamic. I freeze the band in time, allowing the balance between light and dark to become a narrative that transcends the performance. Not only what is portrayed, matters to me. Regardless of whether it concerns a portrait or live photography, I am invariably looking for that precise moment when the subject is situated between light and darkness. Literally and metaphorically, that moment when the shadow play complements the narrative in the image and the subject.
