Moving mountains is een poging om choreografische instrumenten te scheppen waarmee de bezoeker rechtstreeks in contact kan treden zonder de tussenkomst van performers. Aan de hand van een eenvoudige partituur kan de bezoeker zijn eigen ervaring sturen, op een geheel eigen ritme en naar eigen wens. De partituur is met name geen lijst met instructies. Veeleer zijn het objecten waarmee men kan spelen. Via die ontmoeting willen we een zekere ruimtelijke ontplooiing aanreiken met een verhoogde zin voor kleine gebeurtenissen en details.

Moving mountains staat een zintuiglijke ontmoeting met het object en de ruimte voor. De bezoekers worden uitgenodigd om op een speels en intuïtieve manier in relatie met de omgeving te treden. Het doel is niet om het werk te doorgronden maar om zichzelf erin onder te dompelen. Enkel dan kan men iets van de betekenis vatten, die steeds is gelegen tussen het object en de bezoeker zelf.

Moving mountains is an attempt to create choreographic devices which visitors can interact with directly, without the mediation of performers. Following a basic score, the visitors can engage themselves and navigate their own experience, at their own time and according to their own wishes. The scores are not a set of instructions, they are objects with which the visitors play. Through the encounter of the visitors with the objects, we aim at creating a certain unfolding of space and at getting a heightened perception of minute events and details.
Moving mountains privileges a sensorial encounter with the object and the environment. The visitors are invited to rely on playful and intuitive modes of interaction with the objects. The aim is not to have a detached apprehension of the work, but to immerse oneself in it. It is through immersion that the sense of the work might appear, somewhere in between the object and our selves.
