“take a ride on your deepest doubts and reach your stoned catharsis”

Vijf muzikanten, vrienden, broers, elk met hun eigen muzikale achtergrond (jazz, rock, soundscape…) vertellen samen een verhaal over universele twijfels, zoeken naar identiteit en liefde in al haar vormen. Tijdens een ononderbroken muzikale set bevinden ze zich midden in een transitieproces, zonder duidelijk doel.

Elk begin is tenslotte
niet meer dan een vervolg,

Hierbij gaan ze bewust op zoek naar het contrast: minimale versus maximale sound, elektrische versus akoestische instrumentatie, repetitie versus variatie. Soundscapes en spoken word geven het geheel een extra dimensie en nemen de luisteraar mee in hun veelzijdig universum.

Gilles Vandecaveye bracht deze muzikanten samen. Het concept, composities, field recordings en teksten zijn van zijn hand. Dit nieuwe project is ook zijn afstudeerproject dit jaar op School of Arts/ Conservatorium Gent.

Bio / Credits

Gilles Vandecaveye(1992) groeide op in Gent.
Hij startte met piano toen hij 7 jaar was, sindsdien werd
muziek de rode draad doorheen zijn leven.
Op zijn 19de startte hij de opleiding jazz piano op het Conservatorium
van Gent. In 2015 studeerde hij voor een semester aan het Rytmisk Musik Conservatorium
in Kopenhagen, Denemarken.
Momenteel is hij actief in verschillende muzikale projecten, gaande
van Jazz en improvisatie(Steiger, BARDO, Même le soleil) tot rock(Peenoise) en elektronische muziek(Madame Blavatsky).
Hij speelde met deze projecten in verschillende clubs, cafés en festivals doorheen de jaren.
Gilles was en is ook betrokken bij theater- en dans voorstellingen.

Met Steiger bracht hij dit jaar een eerste EP uit in eigen beheer.
In September nemen ze hun eerste full CD op.

Deze zomer speelt Gilles met Bardo op het Gent Jazz festival. Ook speelt hij deze zomer op Theater Aan Zee met Steiger (Jong Muziek) en gaat een nieuwe voorstelling in première waar hij meespeelt samen met zijn broers( Cesar, Titus Arend), in een regie van zijn oudste broer, danser/ acteur, Arend Pinoy.

Five musicians, friends, brothers, each with their own musical background (jazz, rock, soundscapes …) who tell a story together about universal doubts, the search for identity, and love in all of its guises. In a single continuous set they are in the middle of a process of transition, without any clear goal.

In this process, they deliberately seek out contrasts: minimal vs. maximal sound; electric vs. acoustic instruments;repetition vs. variation. Soundscapes and spoken word bring an additional dimension to the whole and lure the listener into their many-sided universe.

It was Gilles Vandecaveye who brought these musicians together, and he also provides the concept, compositions, field recordings and lyrics for what is also his graduation project.
