De werkelijkheid kan je beschouwen als een succesvolle fictie. Hier komt het tot ons in video, foto's en het geschreven woord. De beelden die daaruit volgen, of ze nu in scène zijn gezet of niet, spelen met de dialectiek van tegengestelden waardoor de grenzen tussen verleiden en bedreigen poreus worden. Deze kwartslag van de werkelijkheid zaait twijfel. Het verschil tussen aantrekkelijk en afstotend, angst en comfort of lichtheid en sérieux vervaagt. De gevestigde orde wordt gewogen. Een poging om de densiteit van de werkelijkheid te herstellen op het scherm van de menselijke geest via een narratief. Ik neem de puls van de tijd door oude mythes met nieuwe verhalen te confronteren. Uiteindelijk neemt fictie het altijd over waar de werkelijkheid zich terugtrekt.
'Hollow Hours' is een film van 36 minuten die het dagelijks leven van twee kinderen in beeld brengt die zich als volwassenen gedragen. Ze leiden en onregelmatig en vrij bestaan in een westerse stad. Niemand lijkt die autonome levensmanier in vraag te stellen. Een cameraman - aangetrokken door hun nonchalance - probeert hen te volgen. Deze fictionele documentaire schetst een onconventioneel dubbelportret.

Reality can be considered as a successful fiction. Here — through video, photography and writing — it is. The images that result from this conception, no matter if they are set up or captured, play with the dialectics of contraries, and the boundary between temptation and threat becomes porous, tending to initiate a disruption of conformity. This slight disorder may cast doubt on obviousness. The distinction between attractive and repulsive, fear and comfort, or lightness and solemnity is made unclear. Established order is weighed. This consists in attempting to restore the density of reality to the screen of the human mind, through narrative, or staging. This could also be a suggestion: taking the pulse of our time by confronting our current myths with new stories. Finally, fiction always takes over when reality retreats.
