Do What They Say - Super Salt Peanuts
Super Salt Peanuts, dé nieuwe band uit het Gentse, met aan het roer niemand minder dan multi-instrumentalist en producer Joren Cautaers (28). We zagen hem reeds op de planken met Leonore (drums), Humble Grumble (vibrafoon) en Peut-être Demain (bas). Nu komt hij uit de kast mijn een eigen project, Super Salt Peanuts.

Sound of Colours
Sound of Colours is een audio-visueel project dat mensen van verschillende culturen en achtergronden uit één stad wil verenigen. Met muziek als universele taal komen we samen om te zingen en te spelen onder het motto ‘diversity in unity’. Sound of Colours bestaat uit muziekvideo's, waarin autochtonen en allochtonen op verschillende locaties in een stad samen musiceren. Alle afzonderlijke uitvoeringen worden op locatie opgenomen en samengebracht tot één audiovisueel geheel.

Leán (EP)
Leán is het trio van Silke Clarysse, Otto Kint en Gielis Cautaers. In 2014 ontmoetten ze elkaar in het Brusselse en besloten om samen hun passie voor wereldmuziek naar buiten te brengen. Op het programma staan gitaarwerken van Afrikaanse, Latijns-Amerikaanse en Mediterraanse afkomst in combinatie met een jazzy contrabas en subtiele handpercussie.

Evil Empire Orchestra (EP)
Evil Empire Orchestra verwekt live telkens weer een ontaarde crossover van trancerock, ethiojazz en worldfunk. De componenten van deze onbehoorlijke podiumassemblée? De ongetemde, primaire soulzang en het mystieke vuur van vocaliste Kimberly Dhondt, die deunt, kreunt en krijst, en de verpulverende stootkracht en goddeloze grooves van haar zevenkoppige band van koper, magneetstaal en dierenvellen. Evil Empire Orchestra moet je horen, zien en voelen tussen buik en knieën. Op het orgel zit immers een verdwaalde drummer te hengsten en de bassist laveert tussen Jones en Jamerson. Exit blaxploitation, exit boogaloo - dit is fusion voor generatie grenzeloos. De pluimen werden sowieso al verdiend bij The Internationals, El Tattoo del Tigre, Antwerp Gipsy Ska Orkestra en Creature with the Atom Brain. En nu is er deze onbehoorlijke oerband die even zedeloos als gezwind alle heilige muziekhuisjes sloopt. No rules!

Bio / Credits

Joren Cautaers behaalde een master, uitvoerende muziek, slagwerk, aan het conservatorium van Antwerpen en het Lemmensinstituut te Leuven. Waarna hij, in 2011, de studie muziekproductie, aan het conservatorium te Gent, aanvatte. Als muzikant is hij zowel actief als freelancer als in vaste formaties (Leonore, humble Grumble, Krazy e). Joren is leerkracht aan de kunstacademie van Geraardsbergen en is de bedenker en producer achter het project Sound of Colours en medeoprichter van One Take vzw.

Super Salt Peanuts is the latest sensation from Ghent, headed by none other than multi-instrumentalist and producer Joren Cautaers (28). We’ve seen him before as a performer with Leonore (drums), Humble Grumble (vibraphone) and Peut-être (bass), but now he steps out with his own project, Super Salt Peanuts.

Sound of Colours
Sound of Colours is an audio-visual project aimed at bringing together people from different cultures and backgrounds who share a city. With music as a universal language, we get together to sing and play under the banner of ‘diversity in unity’.
Sound of Colours produces videos in which old and new residents make music ‘together’ on different locations in a city. All individual performances are recorded on location (both sound and image) and brought together in a single audio-visual whole.

Leán (EP)
Leán is the trio of Silke Clarysse, Otto Kint and Gielis Cautaers. They met in Brussels in 2014 and decided to do something with their shared passion for world music. They perform guitar-based pieces from Africa, Latin America and the Mediterranean with jazzy upright bass and subtle hand percussion.

Live, Evil Empire Orchestra invariably sets loose a degenerate crossover of trance rock, ethio-jazz and world funk. The components of this unseemly assembly? The untamed, primal soul vocals and mystic fire of singer Kimberly Dhondt — who brings forth tunes, moans and shrieks — and the pulverizing thrust and godless grooves of her copper, magnetic steel and animal-skin abusing band of seven. Evil Empire Orchestra is a thing to behold, hear and feel … somewhere between the gut and the knees, that is. For at the organ a stray drummer is thumping away and the bass player can’t make up his mind between Jones and Jamerson. Forget blaxploitation, forget boogaloo — this is fusion for the unbounded generation. Orchestra members cut their chops with The Internationals, El Tattoo del Tigre, Antwerp Gipsy Ska Orchestra and Creature with the Atom Brain, to come together in this primeval abomination that devours sacred cows with swift debauched abandon.
