Hoewel Gulliver's Travels vandaag wat in de kinderhoek zit, tref ik er veel aan dat onze hedendaagse samenleving aanbelangt. Het inspireert me om stijlvol te zijn, intens te zijn en noopt me tot een voorzichtige analyse van de huidige en historische sociale en politieke toestand. Mijn besognes betreffen vooral de impact van religie op onze samenleving, het Europese beleid en het eeuwige contrast tussen oud en modern (de staat van crisis). Mijn materiaal bestaat onder meer uit handboeken en meer dan 5000 beelden om collages mee te maken met een post-situationistische techniek zoals kannibalisme en toeëigening.

Although Gulliver’s Travels is now mostly relegated to the children’s shelf, I find Jonathan Swift’s book says a lot about our contemporary — adult — world. Its style, intensity and astute analysis of society and politics were all inspirations to me. In this project I investigated ideas and opinions on what I consider to be relevant issues today, particularly the pernicious influence of different religions, European policy, and the eternal contrast between the ancient and the modern. With the basic material of texts, books, and my usual stock of over 5000 images, I produced the initial collages employing post-situationist techniques such as cannibalism and appropriation.
