Fragile stability is een onderzoek dat scharniert tussen textiel en architectuur. De woorden 'dak' en 'deken' gaan terug op dezelfde etymologische wortels en bevatten de notie van bedekken, beschermen. Ze belichamen hun beschuttingsfunctie evenwel op verschillende manieren. Is het deken een zachte, buigzame, compacte, tijdelijke en veeleer fragiele structuur, dan beschouwen we een dak als een solide, vaste, grote en permanente constructie.
In de objecten wordt de lichte flexibiliteit van stof verbonden met de het duurzame en isolerende karakter van architectuur. De objecten zelf verwijzen naar architecturale elementen zoals vloeren, muren en daken. Hun onverwachte buigzaamheid injecteert ze met een zekere speelsheid. Naargelang het gebruik of de ruimte kan het object groeien, krimpen, transformeren.
Het project bevat een verzameling verschillende objecten en fragiele structuren, die zich elk op hun manier tot de ruimte verhouden. Een alledaagse setting en situatie scheppen de context waarin ze tot leven komen, op zoek naar een toepassing en een nieuwe ruimtelijke betekenis.

The Fragile Stability project is an investigation of the boundaries between textile and architecture. The Dutch words for roof, 'dak', and for blanket, 'deken', come from the same root: to cover, to cover up, to protect. They embody their essential shelter function in very different ways. Whereas a blanket is a soft, flexible, compact, temporary and rather fragile piece, the roof is a solid, fixed, large and permanent construction.
Within the different objects the lightness and flexibility of a piece of fabric is united with the sustainability and isolating character of architecture. The objects refer to architectural elements such as floors, walls and roofs. Their unexpected flexibility make it a playful transforming object that can bend, grow, shrink, and respond to the specific needs of a space or user.
The project consists of a collection of objects, fragile structures, that relate to space, each in their own way. An ordinary setting and everyday situations create the context in which the object can come to life in search of playful suggestions for applications, in search of a new spatial meaning.
