De film gaat over een oud lied afkomstig van een bepaalde etnische groep die hun schrift verloren hadden. Meer dan 250 jaar lang droegen zij via hun gezangen kennis over van generatie op generatie. Het lied van de ahorn handelt over de herkomst van het leven in oude epische Miaoverzen.

The film is about an ancient song of an ethnic group who lost their writing. For more than 250 years, they passed on knowledge from generation to generation by singing. The song of the maple tree is about the origin of life in ancient Miao epic verse.
