Objecten en plaatsen zijn projecties van wie we zijn. We vergroten ons zijn uit in de ruimte. Zelfs de kleinste details kunnen iets vertellen over bewoners van een plaats: de afdruk van tafelpoten op het tapijt, een schimmelvlek op de muur, het reliëf in het behangpapier of de roestplek in een lavabo. Wie goed kijkt, ontdekt veel meer dan wie enkel dingen ziet.
Wanneer objecten weggenomen worden uit de ruimte, blijven er enkel sporen over van wat er ooit was. Ze dragen iets nostalgisch in zich. De achtergelaten sporen zijn huiselijk, fragiel, intiem maar tegelijk ook zeer universeel.
In mijn werk vertaal ik het geleidelijk leeghalen van een huis in kleur, vorm en materiaal. De werken zijn subtiel, breekbaar en schijnbaar toevallig geplaatst.
Ze verwijzen naar het gedetailleerd bestuderen van de woning en zijn sporen, naar het toevallig ontdekken van het bijna onzichtbare. De materialen en kleuren maken voelbaar wat er verdwenen is en geven mijn blik weer op het langzaam verdwijnende huis en de bijhorende herinneringen.

Objects and places are projections of who we are. We enlarge our selves in space. Even the smallest details can tell us something about the occupants of a place: the impression of table legs in the carpet, a spot of mould on the wall, the texture of the wallpaper, or the rust stains in the wash basin. Those who care to look closely discover more than those who merely see. When objects are removed from a room, all that is left are traces of what once was there. They have a nostalgic quality. The traces are homely, fragile, intimate, but at once also quite universal.
In my work, I render the gradual emptying of a house in colours, shapes, and materials. The pieces are subtle, brittle, and positioned seemingly at random. They refer to the close study of the house and its traces, to the chance discovery of the nearly invisible. The materials and colours make tangible wat has disappeared, and visualize my view on the slowly disappearing house and the memories that belong to it.
