Zero distance is de naam van een proces waarbij men probeert om de afstanden tussen alle elementen in deze wereld tot nul te herleiden. Het gaat om het uitwissen van afstand in de hoop om definitief met de ander samen te vallen. Het is de voortzetting van een historisch proces van verdinglijking dat echter ook een vruchtbaar tussengebied uitwist: de wezenlijke ruimte tussenin. Het buigt een grote afstand om in een kleine afstand die desondanks net groter aanvoelt. In de overgebleven kleine afstand is de mens gereduceerd tot data. Het probleem is hier vermomd als oplossing. Terwijl onze zintuigen langzaam worden uitgevlakt, verdwijnt onopgemerkt ons lichaam. Gedaanteloos.
